What is a self-service car wash machine?
A self-service car wash machine is a control cabinet that lets the driver pay, choose a wash function such as high-pressure wash, foam wash or vacuum, and use it at the bay, while the operator configures the function menu, payment methods and, where selected, cloud management. Functions, payment options and display vary by configuration.
This guide explains the customer workflow and the operator setup behind the KingNeed Self-Service Car Wash Machines range. It describes published functions and options only; it does not cover wash times, pressures or running costs. Confirm configuration-dependent options against the selected product specification.
A self-service car wash machine combines several configurable functions in a single control cabinet. KingNeed publishes it in several formats for different site layouts:
- Wall-mounted: the Customizable Wall-Mounted Self-Service Car Wash Machine and the 7-Inch Color Screen Wall-Mounted Self-Service Car Wash Machine mount on a wall to preserve usable floor space.
- Floor-standing: the King Kong Series Self-Service Car Wash Machine is a slim upright cabinet with a 7-inch color display.
- All-in-one: the Smart All-in-One Self-Service Car Wash Machine combines high-pressure wash, foam wash, power vacuum and other configurable vehicle-care functions in one cabinet.
- Large-screen all-in-one: the Large-Screen All-in-One Self-Service Car Wash Station adds a large-format screen for user guidance and advertising content.
The machine serves two roles. The customer pays, selects and uses functions. The operator sets up what the machine offers:
| Operator setting | What is configured |
|---|---|
| Function menu | Wash and care functions, package level and optional modules |
| Payment | Coins, banknotes, QR codes, credit or debit cards; provider and settlement for the market |
| Display | Interface language and branding; advertising content on the large-screen station |
| Cloud management (where selected) | 4G-connected remote management and the agreed monitoring and sales-data scope |
The customer workflow: pay, select a function, wash, finish or stop
The published pages describe a simple sequence at the cabinet. Display details are from the 7-inch wall-mounted model; finish or stop control is listed on the customizable wall-mounted machine.
- Pay. The customer pays with one of the payment methods configured for the site. The display shows payment prompts.
- Select a function. The display presents function zones so the customer can choose a function such as high-pressure wash, foam wash or vacuum.
- Wash. The customer uses the selected function at the bay. The display shows operating status and remaining time.
- Finish or stop. The customer ends the session with the finish or stop control, and the display gives feedback on wash completion.
How payment is linked to the wash program is part of the machine configuration, so confirm the offered payment modules, connectivity and wash-program configuration in the quotation.
What functions a machine can offer
The customizable wall-mounted machine lists eight core service functions. Function selection remains configurable, so not every function is included in every build:
- High-pressure washing
- Soft-water washing
- Foam washing
- Power vacuuming
- Hand washing
- Ozone sanitization
- Tire inflation
- Air dusting
The same page adds finish or stop control. Other models publish their own function lists:
| Model | Published functions | Optional modules shown |
|---|---|---|
| 7-inch wall-mounted | High-pressure wash, foam wash, power vacuum, sanitization, tire inflation, air dusting and finish control, according to the chosen build | Soft-water wash, wax coating, fragrance, tire cleaning and polishing, steam cleaning, anti-freeze heating, mud pretreatment |
| King Kong floor-standing | High-pressure wash, foam wash, vacuum and sanitization | Configured for project needs |
| Smart All-in-One | High-pressure wash, soft-water wash, foam wash, power vacuum, wax coating, ozone sanitization; four package levels | Fragrance, tire inflation and air dusting, tire cleaning and shine, anti-freeze heating, mud pretreatment, steam cleaning |
| Large-screen station | High-pressure, soft-water and foam washing, power vacuum, wax coating; four package levels (Starter, Pro, Ultimate, Premium+) | Tire inflation and air blow, tire cleaning and shine, anti-freeze protection, mud and sand pre-treatment, steam cleaning |
Vacuum, tire inflation and upholstery-care equipment should be assessed as selected equipment or optional service modules. Confirm the actual functions included in the offered package rather than assuming every option is standard.
Typical wash sequence a site can offer
The order of use is the customer’s choice, and the operator decides which functions appear on the menu. As an illustration only, a typical menu might be arranged in this order:
- Pre-treatment, where the mud pretreatment module is selected.
- Foam wash.
- High-pressure wash.
- Soft-water wash, where offered.
- Wax coating, where offered.
- Finishing functions such as vacuum, tire inflation and air dusting, where configured.
This is an example layout, not a published KingNeed program. Match the menu to the functions in your selected package and to what your customers expect at the site.
The display and user guidance
The display is how the customer understands the machine:
- 7-inch HD color display (7-inch wall-mounted model): presents clear function zones, operating status, remaining time and payment prompts, with visual guidance and feedback for payment and wash completion.
- 7-inch color display (King Kong Series): presents wash functions through a visual interface with simple text and recognizable controls, quick function selection and step-by-step guidance.
- Large-format screen (large-screen station): supports user guidance and advertising content at the station. Review the display arrangement and content requirements for the intended location.
Interface language is a published customization option on the wall-mounted, King Kong and Smart All-in-One pages. Confirm the language, screen visibility and operating prompts for the project.
How payment works
Coins, banknotes, QR codes and credit or debit cards are configuration options across the relevant models, subject to local integration requirements. For how to specify payment and 4G cloud management, see Self-Service Car Wash Payment Options and 4G Cloud Management. The operator specifies:
- Installation country and currency.
- Intended payment methods and the local payment provider.
- Connectivity requirements for the selected payment modules.
- Payment settlement and supported integrations, confirmed for that market before ordering.
The presence of a screen alone does not establish local payment compatibility. Confirm the offered payment modules in the quotation; the Self-Service Car Wash Site Configuration Guide covers payment localization alongside cabinet placement.
What the operator sees: 4G cloud management (where selected)
Cloud management is a selectable part of the configuration, not a feature of every machine:
- The Smart All-in-One machine combines its payment options with 4G-connected remote management and operating data; 4G connectivity links machines to a cloud management platform.
- The large-screen station describes its published cloud platform as supporting remote monitoring, sales data and multi-machine management over 4G connectivity; confirm the offered platform functions and connectivity requirements.
Where cloud management is selected, agree the device monitoring and sales-data scope in the quotation. For other models, confirm cloud and connectivity options for the selected configuration.
Hardware behind the cabinet
The customer sees the screen, payment devices and wash tools; the product pages also list the components that deliver each function. Available components shown include:
| Model | Published accessories and components |
|---|---|
| Large-screen station | High-pressure pump unit, water gun, foam gun, pressure and foam hoses, electronic foam proportioner, gun holder and swivel arm |
| Smart All-in-One | Washing guns, foam equipment, hoses, an electronic foam proportioner, gun holders and a dual swivel arm |
These are available components, not a fixed standard kit. Ask the supplier to state the final included-equipment list, installation responsibilities and service support scope for the selected configuration.
Where the machines are used
The product pages present the machines for these commercial settings:
- Self-service car wash bays and car wash centers.
- Gas stations.
- Auto service shops and auto detailing centers.
- Parking facilities.
- Community service points.
- Fleets and other commercial vehicle-care sites (large-screen station).
Standalone vacuum, steam, fragrance and two-wheeler stations can be added alongside the wash cabinet, each with its own payment; see Add-On Vehicle-Care Stations for Self-Service Car Wash Sites.
How does a self-service car wash work?
The customer pays at the machine, selects a function on the display, uses it at the bay and ends the session with the finish or stop control. The operator decides which functions, payment methods and display language the machine offers, and whether it is connected to cloud management.
What does the screen show?
On the 7-inch color screen wall-mounted model, the published display presents function zones, operating status, remaining time and payment prompts, with feedback for payment and wash completion. The large-screen station uses a large-format screen for user guidance and advertising content. Confirm the interface language and selected functions for the project.
Can customers vacuum and inflate tires at the same machine?
Yes, where those functions are configured. The eight core service functions on the customizable wall-mounted machine include power vacuuming, tire inflation and air dusting, but vacuum and tire inflation are not included in every wash machine. A standalone dual-user vacuum station with its own payment can be added instead; see Add-On Vehicle-Care Stations. Confirm the functions in the offered package.
Do customers need staff help?
The machines are designed for self-service operation: the display guides the customer through payment, function selection and finish. Whether a site is supervised, and who handles cleaning, refills and servicing, is the operator’s decision for each site.
Which payments can customers use?
Coins, banknotes, QR codes and credit or debit cards are configuration options, subject to local integration requirements. The operator selects the methods, payment provider and connectivity for the installation market, and confirms settlement and supported integrations before ordering.
