What Do You Need to Open a Self-Service Dog Wash? Equipment and Site Checklist

Short answer

The core is a self-service dog wash station (an integrated machine, a tub with a control cabinet, or a wall controller with a compatible tub, storage water heater and pet dryer) with its programs, dispensing and payment modules, plus water supply, hot-water arrangement, drainage, electrical supply and cleaning access arranged at the site. An enclosed wash room is optional.

Use this checklist to list the items for one site before you compare configurations on the KingNeed Commercial Dog Wash Equipment page, from the All-in-One Self-Service Pet Wash Machine to the Wall-Mounted Self-Service Pet Wash Controller. It names items and decisions only; it does not give utility values, floor-space needs or prices. If you have not chosen a format yet, start with How to Choose a Self-Service Pet Wash Station. Confirm configuration-dependent options and responsibilities against the selected product specification.

Checklist: equipment and site items for a self-service dog wash

Work through each row for every self-service dog wash (pet wash) station you plan and record what you decide. The source page shows where the item is published; the last column is what to confirm with the supplier.

Item What to decide Source page Confirm with supplier
Station format All-in-one machine, dual-tub or dual-screen station, split-type tub with control cabinet, or wall-mounted controller with locally sourced equipment; start from the site, not from the machine Selection guide, Dog wash equipment The selected model, the supplied configuration and the system boundary defined in the quotation

Care-program entries beyond rinse, shampoo, conditioner and drying, such as the medicated, treatment or sanitize options, are configurable options only; select products and procedures appropriate for pets, local rules and professional guidance.

Programs, dispensing components and payment options differ between formats and are configuration options, not standard equipment on every unit. To compare them format by format, use the program and payment table in the pet wash station selection guide. Ask the supplier to state the supplied configuration, installation interfaces, maintenance access and service scope, so you can see which items are in the quotation and which are arranged locally.

Utilities to arrange and confirm

Water supply, hot-water arrangement, drainage and electrical supply are arranged by the operator at the site. Their values depend on the selected model and configuration and are not published on the pet wash pages, so this guide does not list them. Request the electrical, water, hot-water and drainage requirements for the selected model before you plan the site:

  • Water supply: for each tub or bay. The dual-tub station needs water, drainage, power and cleaning access for both bays.
  • Hot-water arrangement: how warm water reaches the rinse programs, including a compatible locally sourced storage water heater where the wall-mounted controller is used.
  • Drainage: for each wash position and for an enclosed wash room.
  • Electrical supply: for the station or controller and for any locally sourced dryer or heater, subject to installation and electrical compatibility requirements.
  • Routing and access: utility routing to the tub and cabinet, and access for daily cleaning and maintenance.

Record the utilities for every wash position separately. If you plan to add a second position or a wash room later, note where their utilities will come from when you plan the site.

If you source equipment locally

The wall-mounted controller combines wash-program control and liquid dispensing and is designed to work with compatible locally sourced storage water heaters, pet dryers and pet wash tubs. Send the proposed tub, heater and dryer specifications so compatibility and control interfaces can be reviewed. Then agree electrical connections, mounting, commissioning checks and responsibility for the locally purchased equipment, and define which parts KingNeed supplies and which are provided locally. Treat local sourcing as a defined integration project; the full integration checklist is in Dog Wash Controller and Local Equipment Integration.

If you add an enclosed wash room

The Self-Service Pet Wash Room is an optional modular enclosed room with entrance payment and automatic door access. It is designed to work with a compatible self-service pet wash machine and does not perform the wash itself. The room page lists a tempered-glass door, a sealed wet-area design and drainage support, and gives listed product dimensions of 2900 × 2200 × 2480 mm; check them against your site layout. If you add a room, add these items to the checklist:

  • Cabin layout, door access and customer circulation.
  • The separate wash-machine configuration and installation utilities.
  • Entrance payment, access timing and cleaning and service procedures.
  • Placement, drainage, utilities and the planned operating arrangement.

Confirm whether the quotation covers the cabin, the wash equipment or both.

Start with one position or a cabinet upgrade

A site does not need every format or program on day one. Ways to keep the first phase focused:

  • One wash position: start with a single all-in-one, dual-screen or split-type station and a defined program list; use the selection guide to pick the format.
  • Cabinet upgrade: if you already own a compatible wash tub, the split-type control cabinet can upgrade it instead of a complete system.
  • Room later: the modular pet wash room can support new projects or site upgrades when paired with a compatible self-service pet wash machine and required utilities.

List the positions, programs or room you may add later, confirm they are compatible with the selected equipment, and reserve space and utilities for them when planning the site.

What to send for a project-specific configuration

Turn the completed checklist into a project brief. Include:

  1. Installation country and planned quantity.
  2. Site layout and the station, tub or controller position.
  3. Existing equipment and utilities, including any tub, heater or dryer you plan to source locally.
  4. Intended wash menu and dispensing.
  5. Payment methods and payment provider.
  6. Screen language, branding and any advertising content.
  7. Integration scope and whether a wash room is included.

Ask for the supplied configuration, installation interfaces, maintenance access and service scope. For the cost side of the same scope, see Self-Service Dog Wash Startup Cost Factors. For how customers use the station once it is installed, see How a Self-Service Dog Wash Station Works.

What equipment do I need to open a self-service dog wash?

The core is a self-service dog wash station (an integrated machine, a tub with a control cabinet, or a wall controller with a compatible tub, storage water heater and pet dryer) with its programs, dispensing and payment modules. Add water supply, hot-water arrangement, drainage, electrical supply and cleaning access at the site; an enclosed wash room is optional. Compare formats on the Commercial Dog Wash Equipment page and confirm the supplied configuration.

What are the installation requirements for water, drainage and power?

Water supply, hot-water arrangement, drainage, electrical supply and cleaning access for every wash position, including both bays of a dual-tub station and an enclosed room. The values depend on the selected model and are not published on the pet wash pages, so request the electrical, water, hot-water and drainage requirements for the selected model.

Do I need a separate water heater and dryer?

It depends on the format. The all-in-one machine integrates blow-dry control and the dual-tub, dual-screen and split-type stations list a blow-dry program, while the wall-mounted controller is designed to work with a compatible locally sourced storage water heater and pet dryer. Record the hot-water arrangement for every wash position and confirm the supplied components in the quotation.

Can I use my existing tub?

Yes, subject to compatibility. The split-type station offers a control-cabinet upgrade for a compatible existing tub; review the tub, plumbing, electrical interfaces and selected programs before confirming a retrofit. The wall-mounted controller is also designed to work with compatible locally sourced tubs.

Do I need an enclosed room?

No, it is optional. The Self-Service Pet Wash Room adds entrance payment, automatic door access and a dedicated enclosed wash space, and it is designed to work with a compatible self-service pet wash machine; it does not perform the wash itself. Confirm whether the quotation covers the cabin, the wash equipment or both.

Who is responsible for installing locally sourced equipment?

Agree it in the quotation. Send the specifications of the locally sourced tub, heater and dryer for interface review, then agree electrical connections, mounting, commissioning and responsibility for the locally purchased equipment. Define which parts KingNeed supplies and which are provided locally, and request the final scope before shipment; see Dog Wash Controller and Local Equipment Integration.

Plan your dog wash site

Compare station formats on the commercial dog wash equipment series page, then send your installation country, quantity, site layout, existing equipment, utilities, wash menu, payment and integration scope for a project-specific configuration.
